Memory Meme

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] lexin and other perps as well.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want, either good or bad. I promise not to come after you with a spatula, either way.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

I remember you sitting down in my dinner table at Redemption '03 with kiddies. Made me feel really welcome and all:).

I think the group meals the first evening were one of our better ideas. They really did help people to get to know one another and ensured no one felt alone. And I've met many interesting people at those meals.

Well... I've only met you once :) I remember your Stargate uniform, and you and [livejournal.com profile] waveney dancing at the ceilidh.

Richard and I have always loved to do a ceilidh together. They're such wonderfully inclusive events and I love folk music and an excuse to get up and relax.

Spring sunshine, sitting on that bench on the heath, just chatting and looking out on the loveliness. And you pointing out a particular bird flying and me not seeing it at first.

Oh, yes! I remember sitting looking down over that lovely valley.

And this lady came by walking her dog.

Talking at this year's Eastercon about conventions, dealers' tables, massage, conventions, life, conventions...

I remember at my first Cult TV, before we knew each other, and me looking through your box of slash zines and you enquiring whether I knew what slash was.

I have very many memories of working with you on Who's 7 and Redemption: I always knew I could rely on you, and often that meant more to me than anything at that moment.

What a lovely thing to say! I know exactly what you mean though - I also have a couple of people whom I seriously rely on.

Katlinel spotting you walking down the corridor at Deliverance, and guessing who you'd be from the Avon shirt. You made both of us feel very welcome there, too.

-smile- You've reminded me why I started wearing fancy dress at conventions. It was for precisely that reason - I could say to my online friends who didn't know me in the flesh "I'll be the lady wearing Avon's silver top."

[Contemplates number of ladies I have seen wearing Avon's silver top who may have been rather surprised to be greeted by total strangers using your name!]

I changed to the 'Gold' outfit after the first con. It was more distinctive.

I have happy memories of the Connotations `04 filk session, which would never have happened without you, and was one of my favourite bits of the con.

I do so love a good filk session. It's one of the real curses of my current voice trouble that I haven't been able to sing since early August.

You asking me for a half-finished story for Star 4 pushed me into finishing it. And it was the first fanfic I every finished (which was why I remember it :))

Also that rather nice purple robe you were wearing at Redemption 03...

Oh, so many to choose from! For some reason I'm thinking of you and [livejournal.com profile] waveney sitting very quietly in the hope of not distracting me while I was trying to steer a straight course through a very long dark canal tunnel. Which, as I recall, worked quite well until very near the end when I started crashing into one side and then the other as I tried to correct myself. But I have a vision of the two of you sitting very still in the dark, with just a glint of light off [livejournal.com profile] waveney's glasses. Hm, may have to brush up on some of that vocabulary again! Those, er, heavy metal things for turning things.

The last Who's 7, which was mine and [livejournal.com profile] sugoll's first convention. We arrived late on the Friday evening, and registration was closed so we didn't really know what was going on or where. We met you in the corridor of our hotel room, and I recognised you because you were wearing the Blake shirt with the huge sleeves. And you gave me hug, and showed us your programme and told us what was happening and where. If it hadn't been for you, we might not have gone to another convention.

And spending the evening with you in Stirling when you were there for summer school - it was nice to spend time with you, outside the frantic, but fun, pace of a convention.

[identity profile] entorien.livejournal.com 2005-11-06 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. I think meeting you for the first time, sitting on the large floor cushion in the living room. I remember we got talking about Babylon 5 almost straight away, and [livejournal.com profile] micavity and [livejournal.com profile] waveney were giving each other those wonderful long-suffering looks as we chatted merrily away!

[identity profile] the-mendicant.livejournal.com 2005-11-07 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Meeting you for the first time and feeling like I'd known you forever. Sitting in my kitchen the morning after the night before and having a real heart to heart. I really enjoyed your company

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I felt such a strong sense of connection.

Fingers crossed, I think I'll be able to make it to this year's party. I'm really looking forward to seeing you and talking to you again.

That meme

A warm welcome at my first non DW con, you baby-sitting two unknown kids so that The Bloke & I could attend his father's runeral, the B5 outfit with the hair.. and a professional approach to conventions.
