I'm sure you know this, but in case you don't--carpal tunnel (and, I suppose, other forms of RSI) does a lot of its worsening while you sleep. I've found that wearing properly fitted wrist braces to bed helps a lot (over here you need a doctor's prescription to buy them; I don't know if that's true there). When it's bad, I also wear them during the day as much as possible, or at least wrap my wrists and palms with Ace bandages.
