My slippery seller has offered to leave me positive feedback if I do the same for him.

so that's how he gets his ratings...

Don't leave positive for him if he won't do it for you first (normally it's OK to do that, but I wouldn't risk it in this particular situation).

I've decided not to accept his offer in any case. If he'd been willing to drop it before the lengthy dispute and threats of all and sundry, then I'd have gone along with it. As it is, I'll just take the negative feedback and the unpaid item strike.

At least I've got a positive feedback from the person I actually bought off, so I won't be totally negative if I venture onto eBay again.
