'Lost' vs Patrick O'Brien
Shall I record another episode of 'Lost', with its increasingly predictable storylines, morally-uplifting plots, impossibly pretty people and total lack of understanding of the real problems of living on a desert island, or shall I go and read another chapter of 'Master and Commander' by a writer who truely understands how to show and not tell, who has a fantastic grasp of period detail and who writes novels where I can't predict where the next turn of the page will take me. And with complex, detailed characters who don't feel contrived.
Gosh, that's an easy decision, isn't it? It'll leave more space on Tivo's hard drive for Buffy.

Make sense on the TV licence. I'd do the same in your place.
Oddly enough, I'm watchin less TV in general at present. SF is less fun without company. I'm doing a lot of reading instead - it works better as a solo activity. Doing some gaming with Richard as well.
