"The crowd sang Waltzing Matilda"

A some convention, somewhere, I heard this really great filk. It was about the Australian national anthem and several occasions when "The band played Advance Australia Fair, but the crowd sang Waltzing Matilda" or words to that effect. The tune was Eric Bogle's song "The band played Waltzing Matilda"

I can't find it with Google. Does anyone have the words? They're a wonderful potted history of Australia's national anthem.

Duh, it wasn't the original song you were looking for. Ignote me, I'm dumb tonight.

... according to one site I found, Chris Malme (Minstrel) sang a song called "The Crowd Sang Waltzing Matilda" at a housefilk in reply to a filk of "The band played waltzing matilda".

If it's the same song (and it quite possibly is) you should ask him for a copy of the lyrics or where to find them.

He runs the Filk_UK mailing list and the www.filklore.co.uk online Filk sales site.
