Changing computer

I'm settling into this PC gradually. It's disconcerting after spending most of my life using an Acorn, but I'm getting there. Some habits are easier to unlearn than others - eg. I'm now doing 'ctrl end' instead of 'shift down arrow' to get to the end of a file.

Others are harder. The effect of clicking on the little x in the top right corner is very different. On both machines, it removes a file, but on the PC it often removes the application as well and on the Acorn, it doesn't. I'm forever reloading things. It's becomming more intuitive though. I haven't sworn at the machine in several days now. And the LJ interface works much better on this machine.

I've got a lot to learn, and some basic bits of software to acquire. For instance, I don't appear to have a clock - ah, just found it - it's digital, not analogue which is why I didn't spot it. My brain was looking for something else.

One thing I really notice is that I'm paranoid about downloads and viruses. I've gotten used to being immune to viruses, and even with a firewall I'm now very nervous about downloading anything. I'm also a lot more paranoid about e-mail for the same reason.
