 I can't post a comment on Astrogirl's journal -and she hasn't removed me from her access list - I just checked.

 

Let's see if other people's journals still work...

Same with Watersword.

 

But I can comment on VivDunstan's journal.

 

Now I get access denied when I'm trying to view the entry I've just written! (Ok, it's erratic, I can see it on the second try)

How long has this been going on? Sometimes a bit of time magically heals these things.
Otherwise you might contact the DW team with a tech support ticket.

This has been happening to me for days. It seems to be completely random; if you keep hitting the submit button it eventually goes through, but it takes an average of four to five tries :-(

(And apparently the same thing applies to deleting notifications from my inbox!)

These were some serious problems during the last two days in FB, Instagram and such - maybe it is happening here too, though all seems to be resolved.

I followed up to your report (which was at the top when I opened the support form -- although I think a couple of the other recent problems mentioned there may be the same thing too), but my comment is being 'held for screening', apparently... I had to submit multiple times there, as well!

edit: at least, there were when I looked a little while ago, and someone has now removed all of them, including the report you submitted!

Something very odd is going on with those support requests -- there was another one reporting a similar issue this morning that was only ten minutes old at the point when I discovered the reports from last night had vanished, and now that one has disappeared too: https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/see_request?id=48640

Various other support requests in my browser history are still visible, e.g. #48599, #48605 and #48596 (and, oddly enough, #48594, which is one that I suspected *might* have been an early manifestation of the same thing, where the user gets a 403 error when logging in) but items #48640, #48637, #48636, #48635, #48634, #48633 and #48632, which yesterday were a whole run of assorted reports about the same issue, now give "You don't have the necessary privileges to view this request" when you attempt to view the page. The requests haven't been closed; they simply aren't there.

(And I got the standard "403 Denied You don't have permission to view this page. xUrFQCZ9fe200NW @ 3.172.1.38" message when attempting to post this comment, so unfortunately the issue doesn't seem to have been fixed.)

Here are requests 48646 ("Repeatedly get an error message when trying to comment") from zoefruitcake and 48647 ("403 errors") from liv, both posted within the last hour:

All week it takes several attempts to post a comment, I get this after each attempt. Try it a couple of times and it allows it. Happens both at work and at home, on desktop, laptop and iPad. A friend of mine posted yesterday that he was getting it when trying to post an entry. We are both in the UK, in case it is relevant

When I try to preview or post a comment, whether using QuickReply or the separate talkpost_do page, I get 403: Permission denied errors. These occur when logged in, when commenting on my own posts, and when commenting on public posts, so I do not think the problem is that I actually do not have permission. Usually I am able to post after refreshing the page a few times, and I don't lose the text of my comment. But I think this is a persistent but intermittent problem, rather than something that previously went wrong and is now resolved.

What further information do you need to be able to troubleshoot this? It's really quite annoying, though not absolutely fatal.

So it really isn't just me.

But the disappearing reports are just *weird* :-O
There's nothing about it [the 403 problem] in dw_maintenance or the list of Current issues.
