I didn't, but I've just paid the extra to fully fund my state pension in any case. I had several partly qualifying years and I've paid the difference to make them qualify properly.
Looks moderately complicated as someone else has to sign the credit over to you. As there's as stay at home parent who may also need the pension credits, it's not as easy as it might be.
