Bavarian maypoles

 The Czechs aren't the only ones with a tradition of raiding maypoles from other villages....

I think your lads need a bit of initiative - grin

I notice with interest that the Czech tradition is to fell the maypole, but the Bavarian one is to steal it and ransom it.

I suspect the difference is due to the value of the maypole

The Czech ones are cut fresh every year, but the German ones are extensively decorated and too valuable to damage, so holding for ransom makes better sense.
