Customer service

If there's anything I hate, its websites ask you for unnecessary information. I wanted to buy an elbow brace for my tennis elbow, so I hunted around on Google and found one that looked ideal. I filled in the order form which demanded a password and both a home address and a delivery address. It promised free delivery if I signed up for their mailing list so I ticked the box for that, only to discover when I got to the checkout that this gave me a slower delivery option.

So I cancelled my order, sent them a snooty email and went and bought one off Amazon instead. It cost me the same amount on Amazon, but I didn't have to signup for a mailing list to get free delivery, and I don't get mucked about.

Amazon may be a big evil monopoly, but at least it's easy-to-use, I don't have to input loads of information every time, and it does what it says on the tin.

What's even worse are the websites that won't show you the prices of things until you get a login with them. No way!

I so agree.

I wanted to know the price of something on-line recently and had to actually click 'buy' and 'proceed to checkout' before any price was mentioned.

I agree. For a corporate giant, they treat their customers well.

At least they asked you to click for literature - I bought something from Cath Kidson for my neice two birthdays ago, and have been getting catalogues ever since (and this after I had to return the item as 'not fit for purpose' and, yes, went elsewhere.

I find myself doing that -- starting off elsewhere and ending up with Amazon. They're an evil empire, but they're a well-run evil empire. lol
