Why I'm voting Yes to AV.
When there are only two choices, like there were for much of England's political history, then First Past The Post made good sense.
Now, we have more choices, it's easy for the vote to get split between two similar candidates. AV gets round that problem.
I'm voting Yes to AV.
I have a degree. I figure I'm capable of listing candidates in order of preference. Actually, even the seven year olds I'm currently teaching are capable of listing things they like in order of preference. What's your favourite colour? Second favourite?
(AV is not ideal - I'd prefer PR, but I believe AV is a small improvement over what we have now. If AV is voted out, then I think any chance of an even fairer electoral system will be dead in the water for a generation.)
