Web designer wanted

Is anyone out there a dab hand at making web sites look attractive?

I can do content, but my artistic skills are pretty close to zero.

The Anonymous Morris web site needs some work to make it look a bit less amateur.  It also needs someone who can do clever things with photos (ones with open copyright) to make a montage of some kind.  We don't have a kit yet, so the best we can do to add colour is to have some kind of banner showing different Border morris dancers all photoshopped to have a sensible background/whatever.

I could probably do this at some time, but at the moment I'm too busy sorting out my own site :-(

PS there are various free downloadable web page design programs, but I don't know how good they are.

I can footle with CSS if you'd like me to have a go.

It's the artistic eye that I need most. Some pages just look better than others.

If you've got an eye for what will look good, then please have a go.

I've no design skill. I can choreograph a dance, but I don't have graphic skills and I rely on Richard to do web stuff - and he has even less graphic skills than I do.

I need the page to look attractive, rather than the cut and paste appearance it currently has!

Can I suggest you ask [livejournal.com profile] annafdd for help? She has been practicing CSS and other design techniques for making websites look good. I think she might enjoy the practice.

She will almost certainly want it to be done with a CMS like Wordpress or Drupal. But she wont force you down a route you don't want.

(She is quite capable of doing this professionally but needs a portfolio of work)

I'm not a graphics whiz, but I can make sites look pretty. (And could use stuff to go on a portfolio.)

Off-topic, but that's a pretty horrible-looking practice venue you have....

I guess tastes vary. I really liked the look of the building. And it's wonderfully light and airy in the hall inside.

What sort of things are you thinking of? I already took up someone else's offer, but if you need stuff for a portfolio (and if he hasn't started yet) then I could ask him to let you do it instead.
