It's the NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) ratio that makes it such a good fertiliser. It's pretty much ideal for plants and has trace minerals as well.
I've been using it for plants in containers for two years now. (If you have a lot of salt in your diet, then only use it occasionally for plants in containers and use plenty of plain water in between)
The book Liquid Gold is entertaining and informative and cheap as well.
