Henry's got a job
Henry's now officially working part-time for Triple Play Airline Services, the same firm that Richard works for. He's doing a miscellany of testing, software coding, parts assembly, etc.
It's useful for Richard, who had more work than he could manage in the time before the deadline and needed someone to offload it onto. It's great for Henry, as he can work from home and he and Richard can swop notes easily whenever they need to do so.
It's useful experience, and it's money in the bank as well.
I'm feeling happy. I'm also considering doing some voluntary work at the local school.

But as for "I'm also considering doing some voluntary work at the local school", given the new vetting requirements from the "Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act", plus CRB checks etc, you may find it's more hassle than it's worth :-(

I had a CRB for volunteering at the hospice, another CRB for volunteering with the Red Cross, but wasn't asked for one for volunteering at a primary school (though I have no pupil contact, it's all admin, and I did give them a copy of my CRB).
I've found the staff appreciate having someone who knows their way round a computer. They even offered me a part-time job when it was created - which I declined, but it was very sweet of them to ask. So the volunteering may well turn into something part-time for you eventually.
