Reducing your risk of diabetes may also reduce your risk of Alzheimer's

It's starting to look as though anything you do to lower your risk of diabetes may also lower your risk of getting Alzheimer's.

There is a connection between Alzheimer's and diabetes (and it looks as though the link is probably the diabetes rather than the treatment for it).

The earlier the diabetes develops (we're talking about Type 2 diabetes here) the greater the risk of subsequent Alzheimer's.

So, if you are at risk of diabetes, anything you do to reduce your diabetes risk should also reduce your risk of Alzheimer's in later life.

Ah, you tracked down an abstract for an actual research paper. :-)

Interesting!

Anecdotally, my Grandma (93) has both type 2 diabetes and dementia. I'm not clear which developed first, but I do know that due to the dementia it took her a very long time to accept that she had diabetes.
