Just watched the episode of 'Being Human' that I recorded over the weekend. Enjoyed it. Will watch more. (It's the show about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost sharing a house)
Paul and I both enjoyed it but thought, uncharacteristically for both of us, that the concept was strong enough to stand on its own without the excessive overarching plot. A vampire, a ghost and a werewolf share a flat in Bristol - zany highjinks ensue. I'm sold. :-)
I'll have to try it again. i saw part of the first episode a while, back amd though the dialogue limped. But the concept is funny. The radio times showed the wolf transformation of the werewolf - I find those fascinating in films as much as I find the underlying folklore fascinating. Werewolves are very popular in Western media but of course you can get were- anything else as well. Were-bears in Eastern and central Europe; and were leopards in Africa. I had Ginzburg's book on the Benandanti (*good* European werevolves born with the caul on who fight evil warlocks/witches to protect the corn in an annual battle) but I've lost it in the bookroom somewhere.
I saw the original one-off version of this and was quite impressed, although they did hint at a potential back-story/ ongoing plot in that.
I've just got around to watching the first episode of this series and whilst there is more than a hint of ret-conning and plot devices, it still looks like it's worth sticking with until it finds its feet.
I just hope that George (the werewolf) settles down a bit, his style at the moment is irritatingly OTT and makes me want to reach for the fast-forward button at times.
Leonora Critchlow was good in Sugar Rush and she's also good in this IMO.
The on-going plot almost sounds a bit too po-faced for its own good, but I'm willing to give it a chance.
