Easter Parade

I've been in a lot of pain from a pulled muscle in my neck for the last few days, so haven't been able to do a lot of anything useful.

I've just been relaxing by watching on of my old favourite movies - Easter Parade.

No matter how many times I see it, I'm struck every time by just how amazing a dancer Fred Astaire was.  Watching him dance 'Drum Crazy' brings a smile to my face every time.  The whole movie is a delight from start to finish with Irving Berlin songs and Judy Garland partnering Fred Astaire in many of the dance numbers, including 'We're a couple of swells'.

Perfect for when you have the blues!

Not sure when I last saw the whole thing from beginning to end but A Couple of Swells and the finale are just fantastic. I must search it out and watch it again one cold and rainy afternoon (in a few weeks time).

It's one of my "feel good" movies too :) How's the neck progressing?

Oh yes, I do know what do you mean! Beautiful music + Fred Astair + Judy - well, it makes miracles!

"Why didn't you tell me I love you?"

Gosh, haven't seen that one for ages.

It's improved a little. I've made an appointment to see a physiotherapist on Monday. It's worth paying outside the NHS to see someone quickly.

I love the sequence in the toyshop! What comes across is Fred's joy in dancing - you know that if Gene Kelly had been able to make the film, that sequence would have just been a "look at me" obligato.
