The joys of being a teacher

One of my part-time jobs is private math tuition. This year, I also did chemistry for one of my pupils at her mother's request. It was understood from the outset that I'd only cover the parts of the GCSE chemistry that I felt qualified to teach.

This particular pupil is one of my favourites. She really hated maths and chemistry when we started and she's not the brightest of girls, but after a few lessons we really hit it off and she started to *enjoy* what we were doing.

She got her results today. B for maths and B for double science. I was delighted. There's a far greater pleasure in getting a low ability pupil to a B than a genius to an A+.

She just came round with a box of chocolates for me. I shall miss teaching her.

That's terrific! Well done her, and well done you. :)
