having a good Christmas

I wasn't to sure how Grandma and Grandad would fit into our style of family Christmas, but in fact, it's going very well.

Right now, [livejournal.com profile] exalted_mugwump is playing chess with [livejournal.com profile] micavity with the Napoleonic chess set I found (sensibly priced as it's a very nice set) in a charity shop. Grandad is making bugs out of ballons with a kit (also from a charity shop) that was one of his stocking fillers - we have a large sack in the lounge and hand out stocking fillers to everyone present, at intervals throughout the day. Grandma is doing a jigsaw with [livejournal.com profile] waveney and I think [livejournal.com profile] entorien is reading an Asterix book that [livejournal.com profile] auntygillian (who is with her husband's family today) gave Kelvin for Christmas.

Grandma (who normally isn't into games) enjoyed playing Scrabble yesterday, and I found another word game she liked today. Grandad tried a game of Elfenland.

It's been a good two days so far and that bodes well for the rest of the holiday.

I think I shall go and read the rules of the new game that Henry bought me...

Merry Christmas, everyone!
