Counterfeit money and laundry

I don't know how it got there, but there was a counterfeit £1 coin in my washing machine and it's made a real mess of the laundry. There's horrible marks all over the sheets. I'm hoping they'll brush off once the sheets are dry, if not, I'll have to wash them again.

Very good!

Alternative punchlines:
1) fell off a faux "cash"mere sweater
2) someone decided to pound their laundry clean
3) now that's *really* filthy lucre
4) it was a change for the worse
5) a pound? now if it had been a dollar that would have made cents
6) if there was another 5p in there you could have dried your clothes on a line with a guinea peg (ok, now we're *really* straining for punchlines!)
7) I'm told that it costs more than a pound for a tumble in this part of London!
8) I bet whoever did that is feeling gilty!
9) Probably installed by a plumber ... oh wait, you probably mean how did the *coin* get there!
