Bluetits

We have a bluetit nest box in our garden on the back wall against the wisteria. It hasn't been used yet, but we live in hope. It may be in too sunny a position, though the wisteria may provide a little shade once the leaves come out.

However, we do have a very cocky (and I suspect very young) male bluetit who is making a great song and dance around the entrance. I can't tell male and female bluetits apart - I'm just going by behaviour. He perches on the fence, head feathers as erect as it's possible for a blue tit to be (ie. not very) and makes an amount of noise that is truely surprising for such a small ball of feathers.

I hope he finds a mate, but I rather suspect all the females around our garden have already made their choices...
