breast-feeding

I'm starting to feel the need to borrow a baby to do a new icon of my own...

Some of the banned icons http://www.promom.org/gallery/banned_icons are really lovely pictures. The whole thing is just crazy.

I've not had a reply to my comments to LJ on the subject...

The thing is, they're not 'banned' per se. The users are merely being told not to use them as "default" icons. I'm not sure I agree with 6A's reasoning around why - I think you could drive a bus through it, actually - but saying the're banned isn't strictly accurate.

This is ridiculous.

Storm in a milk bottle. Now if it was beards they were banning from default icons I'd be worried...

Neither have I - I've always been quite sceptical about LiveJournal's support and abuse teams, I think they should hire professionals. They're a business, so I expect the same level of customer support as from other businesses.

By the way, I added you, I hope you don't mind!

Swings and roundabouts. A professional team might have reacted the same way. What worries me most is that I see a slight chance that they might introduce stricter rules all round - there's a 'net nanny' outlook out there that LJ has largely managed to avoid. Even the ruling here has only covered default icons - imagine if they extended the rules to cover all icons. That would affect many icons that are nothing to do with breast feeding.

Wecome. Come in and pull up a pew.

As a reader of this journal, you get automatic invitations to things like the August super-soaker fight and the next incarnation of Silvercon (small board games convention).

On this issue, yes, but there have been instances in which the current team just deletes things they don't like - hardly conductive to a freedom of complaint.

As ZZ9 Secretary, I'm already invited to the former event (I will be in California at the time, unfortunately), but if the latter event is something I can attend I'll probably be there - it sounds good!
