There's something about special prices, especially those available for limited periods only, that always sets my mental alarm bells ringing.
I had a letter recently from someone, who presumably serviced my boiler in the past, reminding me that it was due for a service (which it probably is) and that they could do it for just £51.70 inc VAT and that this special rate could only be held for a short period.
So, I tried Yellow Pages and the first Corgi registered plumber that I contacted said he could do it for £35 plus VAT. Doesn't take a pocket calculator to work that one out...
