slightly better news
At least one thing is looking up. My daughter out-law finally got a job. This
is a vast relief. She and my son have been together for about a year and a half
now, and she hasn't worked for more than about two weeks of that time.
To be fair, she had terrible depression when they met and she had some good
reasons to have it, but it was still driving me crazy as they can only just
survive on what he earns. (He's just taken the car off the road as he can't
afford the tax and MOT)
In spite of an ability, verging on the miraculous, to be unable to see job
adverts in a tourist town in summer, she's finally got a part time job in a
store in Poole. Part-time is probably good, it'll allow her to ease back
gently. It's also a small store and the guy who runs it always struck me as
friendly in the day when I used to shop there.
It's also within walking distance (about two miles) of where they live.
And Richard's just got a short-term contract from one of his regualar customers
to provide shopping facilites on a commerical web site.
While life isn't exactly fantastic, it could certainly be a lot worse. I even
managed to clear a significant chunk of my e-mail backlog.
