Bilingual budgie

Zathras, our rather beautiful blue/grey budgie is bilingual in budgie and sparrow.

He was brought up with other budgies for the last eight years and always spoke budgie, but since the last of his family died, his song has changed noticeably. He now sounds pretty much like the male sparrows that he hears through the window.

Today though, he was playing with his mirror and was talking budgie again. He's not stupid, he knows which song belongs to which species.

When Henry goes to university, I think we'll give Zathras to his brother Kelvin. Zathras deserves to be with other budgies again (as long as he gets the chance to fly free once a week).
